âšī¸ About Swordspeak
Swordspeak ¡ swordspeak.com
Swordspeak is a language-learning adventure you play in your browser. Instead of tapping and typing, you speak: monsters attack, and you answer out loud in the language you're learning. It teaches 12 languages, runs on phones and computers, and there's nothing to install. Start playing or read how to play.
Who makes it
Swordspeak is made by Brian Jones, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as a passion project. The ads and the optional â Sylladin subscription pay for the speech and AI services it runs on, and what's left goes back into the game.
How it's built
- A 3D world that runs right in your browser (WebGL), on phones and computers, and installs to your home screen if you like.
- Your browser's own speech recognition listens. Microsoft Azure Speech scores pronunciation word by word and sound by sound, and gives the characters their clear voices.
- ElevenLabs makes the natural voices and the original songs on the game's radio.
- Anthropic's Claude is the AI tutor: it explains mistakes, grades free answers, translates and plays scenes with you.
Ideas from players
Every day we build one idea that players send from the game (âī¸ â đĄ Suggest an idea), and its author gets a free lifetime ad-free pass.
