By playing Swordspeak you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. Swordspeak is made and sold by Brian Jones, Toronto, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"), and these terms are a contract between you and us. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

The game

Swordspeak is a language-learning role-playing game: you learn by speaking out loud. It's offered as it is, and it changes over time: places, lessons, limits and features may be added, changed or retired.

Who can play

You must be 13 or older. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms (and to any purchase). The game is PG-13 throughout: it has no adult content.

Your account

Playing fair

Don't use the game unlawfully, for fraud or spam, or to infringe anyone's rights; don't use bots or scripts against it, get around its limits (faking ads included), overload it, scrape it, interfere with its security, reverse-engineer its paid services, or use friends and duels to harass anyone. We may limit, suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, non-payment, or a fraud or security risk.

The AI and the voices

Some of the game's explanations, scenes, grading and translations are written by AI (Anthropic's Claude: Claude Haiku in the free game, Claude Sonnet for Sylladin members), and some voices are synthetic. They are usually right but can be wrong, so treat them as a study aid, not as professional, medical, legal or travel advice. Don't share sensitive personal information in your answers, and don't try to make the AI produce unlawful, hateful or harmful content.

Refund policy

If you're not happy with Sylladin, you can ask for a full refund within 30 days of any payment, for any reason. Ask Paddle at paddle.net (find your order with the email you paid with) or reply to Paddle's receipt email; or write to us at support@swordspeak.com and we'll arrange it through Paddle. A refund also cancels the subscription, so it doesn't renew, and Sylladin ends when the refund is made. Your rights under consumer law come on top of this.

Ownership

The game, its world, characters, music and code belong to its developer. You may not copy or redistribute them. What you write in the game stays yours; you allow us to process it to run the game, as the privacy policy describes.

No warranty, limited liability

The game is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost progress or data, or for more than what you paid us in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without taking away the protection of the consumer laws where you live.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; if a change matters, we'll say so in the game before it takes effect. Questions, or anything about your account or a payment: support@swordspeak.com.
